Understanding the concept of “Prejuvenation” is crucial for anyone looking to maintain youthful skin. As we age, collagen production decreases, leading to wrinkles and sagging.

Start by prioritizing UV protection through sunscreen, the simplest and most affordable anti-aging measure. Consider incorporating antioxidants and growth factors with custom treatments. Explore non-invasive options like neuromodulators for wrinkle prevention, light-based treatments for collagen stimulation, and Sculptra for volume restoration. Embrace a holistic approach to skincare, including radiofrequency and HIFU for skin tightening.

When To Start Anti Aging Treatment?

Every so often we have patients who ask if one is ever “too early” to start anti-ageing treatments. There are also patients who question the need for treatments to rejuvenate the skin when they feel their skin is in reasonably ‘youthful’ state, with no visible signs of wrinkles, fine lines or sagging.
These are fair questions because most people do not think much about treatments for the skin when everything seems to be going well.
The truth of the matter is that our skin ages as we age. Collagen—an essential protein in the skin that gives it elasticity and hydration—decreases as we age. After the age of 20, a person produces about 1 percent less collagen in the skin each year.*  On top of that, daily exposure to UV rays degrades collagen. Lack of adequate protection (such as the use of sunscreens) further accelerates the breakdown of this essential protein at a higher rate than normal ageing. Ultimately, the loss of collagen leads to wrinkle formation and dry saggy skin that makes one look tired and old.
The best advice I would give to anyone who wishes to look youthful is this to take care of your skin before changes start to take place. This leads me to the latest buzzword in the aesthetic world – Prejuvenation.

What is Prejuvenation

Prejuvenation focuses on delaying aging symptoms for as long as possible. Prejuvenation treatments focus on increasing collagen production, support elastin function and preserve facial volume.
At NU.U Aesthetics & Wellness, we recommend the following for Prejuvenation.

UV ray protection

The easiest, most effective and inexpensive anti-aging regimen that provides protection from sun damage. This involves you putting on sunscreen to effectively protect you from the harmful UVA and UVB rays

Anti-oxidants and growth factors

Customised treatments delivered to facial skin using either the Vital injector, Dermoelectroporation or Sonophoresis medi-facials.

These treatments are not only effective in treating skin conditions caused by sun damage, they are also effective in stimulating the formation of new collagen.

Soft tissue fillers

Restore volume loss on the face and provide a natural lift by targeting the ligament anchoring complex of the face.

Scupltra is an injectable containing poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) for collagen remodeling and volume loss.
