Eye bag treatment made easy. One-time treatment. Minimal downtime.
Dr Chew is the innovator and pioneer of the Non Incisional Laser Eyebag Removal procedure in this region. Due to many requests for a non-surgical option to treat eyebags, Dr Chew first started offering this technique called Non Incisional Laser Eyebag Removal (NILER) in 2008 with the aid of the Smartlipo laser system using a 300 micron 1064nm wavelength fibre optic laser. However, due to the limitations of the laser, the outcomes were not always satisfactory.
In July 2009, Dr Chew started using the new Accusculpt laser with a 600 micron 1444nm wavelength fibre optic hand piece. Straightaway, patient outcomes were greatly improved and with good patient selection with regards to suitability for this procedure, patient satisfaction rates improved.
WHERE
Mild to moderate eyebags
WHO
For those with mild and moderately severe eyebags, NILER may be the idea procedure that is the alternative to surgical blepharoplasty.
HOW
The treatment options for eyebag removal in the past have largely centred on the surgical technique called blepharoplasty. Blepharoplasty involves a transconjunctival incision and the removal, or repositioning of the medial, central and lateral fat pads of the eye. Blepharoplasty is often combined with surgical tightening of the skin in the infraorbital region. While the aesthetic outcomes are generally good, there is much downtime and discomfort which, can last up to 2-4 weeks.
Fortunately today with advanced technology, we are able to perform the treatment with a non-surgical method that involves a one-time treatment with minimal downtime – the NILER procedure.
The NILER procedure is carried out with local anaesthetic injected into the eyebag area. A small needle entry point is made at the lateral edge of the eyebag through which, the 600 micron bare laser fibre is inserted into the eyebag. The laser induces a simultaneous fat emulsification effect on the eyebag fat while achieving a skin tightening effect. Typically 1 session needed and the whole procedure takes about 5-10 minutes to complete.
RESULTS
Results can be expected to be optimal in 1-2 months time.
POST TREATMENT
There is minimal downtime of a few days due to swelling and occasional bruising of the treatment area. In cases where there is an associated tear trough depression, this can be corrected in about 1-2 months post procedure with the aid of hyaluronic acid filler.
